I made it to the sunshine state a few days ago. It’s hot. It’s cold. This trip was put into the works as soon as Mr. Fox handed me tickets to see Radiohead in Broomfield, CO. Certainly, the most thoughtful birthday gift ever bestowed upon me.
Show Time
Since, there are no bars within walking distance of the venue, you tailgate. I believe the last time I tailgated was at MSU almost four years ago. It was a ridiculous experience, a story that I’ve only shared with a chosen few. Bri, Eric, Tim, Tara, Chris and Dan were stuck in traffic as Frank and I indulged in Breckenridge beverages. Just as I gave up entertaining the idea that we would all enjoy the show together, Frank found them right after the opening act. It really is about who you are with. Our minds were blown.
This is the setlist we had to endure:
- Encore:
-
(“True Love Waits” intro)
- Encore 2:
Highlight for me? The one and only song played off of the Bends Album; Street Spirit. I most certainly began to tear up with laughter as all the feelings I felt when I first heard this song were sparked. It was a really twisted new chapter in my life. I was in my first year of college where I first felt completely disconnected. I was working retail. I was living in a loft downtown that I couldn’t afford, but had to have. The guy I liked ridiculously whom profoundly brought Radiohead to the foreground did not want to date me. (He was looking through my book of CD’s and confidently stated that my Kid A album was the only good thing in it.)
It seems it was the perfect time to lose myself to the music. A newfound reality.
